I'm obsessed with one question and one alone -- but it's a big one.
I want to know how and why people come to believe the things that they do and now these beliefs change. Part and parcel to this question is why these beliefs so rarely have anything to do with objectively measured reality on the one hand or our psychological well-being on the other. Even more interesting, most people don't really want or believe in the things they insist that they do, and will maintain their denial until acted on by something intense, unavoidable, and frightening.
I am interested in science, but am mathematically and graphically disinclined -- processing spatial or visual information is moderately difficult for me.
William S. Burroughs was right: "Language is a virus from outer space." I desire to learn more about language, both in theory and practice. That being said, I find the problems of language to be profoundly worrisome.
My political views are complex.
